Introduction. This article presents psychometric testing of an original method measuring professional destruction in specialists working in psychological, pedagogical, social, medical, and physical rehabilitation of people with disabilities. The method is based on the developed concept of individual destructive professional genesis, understood as the process and outcome of the emergence and development of destruction in the interaction between profession and personality, manifesting in accentuated traits in rehabilitation and habilitation specialists. Currently, there are no psychological theories or concepts of individual destructive professional genesis that identify the sources and drivers of professional destruction and deformation, nor is there scientifically substantiated information regarding the professional destruction and deformation of rehabilitation specialists’ personalities. This knowledge gap has resulted in a shortage of diagnostic tools capable of studying and predicting the individual trajectory of professional development in such specialists.
Materials and Methods. The method was developed using a survey of 34 specialists involved in the certification of employees at rehabilitation centers and 12 expert psychologists with a Doctor of Sciences degree in labor psychology, as well as on a content analysis of an associative experiment involving 120 specialists of rehabilitation centers (social workers, rehabilitation doctors, instructors–methodologists in adaptive physical education, psychologists, and defectologists — 24 participants per group).
Results. Psychometric testing of the questionnaire involved 396 participants and assessed item difficulty, item discrimination, and normativity; scale consistency; content, construct, convergent, categorical and factorial validity; and retest reliability. Application of the questionnaire on a sample of 480 rehabilitation specialists revealed a tendency to develop dominance in defectologists, cynicism in doctors, suspiciousness in psychologists, and inertia and infantilism in adapted physical education specialists.
Conclusion. Psychometric testing resulted in the creation of a valid and reliable questionnaire, allowing the identification of levels of professional infantilism, inertia, suspiciousness, cynicism, dominance, and delinquency traits.
